Something to Think About

This It Is Written,   Ezekiel 36:27,  I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes,  and you will keep My judgments and do them.
Thomas Paine was an author and political activist during the American Revolution.  His books and other writings were very popular, and he was quoted often.  One of my favorites is  "the harder the struggle, the greater the triumph" and, "what we receive cheaply, we value lightly".
This bit of wisdom applies to the majority of believers.  Take the first part for instance.  We go through life battling satan.  He tries to put all sorts of thoughts in our heads.  Negative thoughts about God, and negative, condemning thoughts about ourselves.  We are bombarded by things of the world.  Even family and friends are used against us.
Jesus died a horrible death to make salvation available to us.  We were forgiven of our sins,  we were healed of all our physical and spiritual  infirmities.  He took the punishment for all of our sins.  All we had to do was except Him and what He did in our hearts,  recognize Him as our Savior, and ask forgiveness.  Pretty cheap price for us, but an unimaginably high price for Jesus.  Jesus did triumph over satan and death for us.
To make a long story short, Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit to help us win the battle for eternity with Him.  He gave us the word to guide us, and to give us an idea of what Jesus did for us,  so we don't take lightly all of the blessings and sacrifices Jesus made.
We would do well to thank God every day, and realize what Jesus gave us, because it is the only priceless thing that ever was.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

How to Love Your Neighbor

It Is Written, 1 Timothy 1:5, now the purpose of Jesus commandment (Romans 13:8-10) is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.
It Is Written, 1 John 3:18, my little children,  let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
When you hear about loving your fellow man, most people feel that it is too hard to do. The reasons most people feel that way is, they associate love with romantic love, or love for their children.
The Hebrew and Greek biblical definitions for love include, compassion, pity, benevolence, kindness.  These definitions are more than likely what the early church understood about loving others.
Most of us don't realize how many times in a day, or week, we show this type of love to others.  If we use these definitions for love, and pay attention to the people we deal with, we'll see how much love is shown to us.
Be kind, thoughtful, helpful, compassionate, giving, in your everyday life, and you will be much happier.  A happier person attracts love.  When Jesus said we are to love our enemies, I think He was expecting His listeners to show this kind of love to even those we don't especially care for.
When it comes to loving your neighbor, it was commanded by Jesus, and He expects us to show that love to everyone we meet.  I'm sure He realizes we may fall off the track, and He forgives us, but we must get right back to loving as we are told.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Hope Is a Positive Thing

It Is Written, Titus 1:2,  in hope of eternal life which God,  who cannot lie, promised before time began.
If the average person read this verse, it would probably not seem very comforting.  Hope as the dictionary and the world define it,  means maybe something will happen.  The dictionary of Bible words however describes hope as waiting to happen,  trusting, and expecting to happen.  This is a very different picture from what we have been brought up with.
In everyday life we are accustomed to instant everything.  When that is the case, waiting becomes difficult.  Another biblical definition of hope is being patient.  Patients by the way, builds faith.
As we know by now, God does not play by our rules, we must play by His. In order to take full advantage of all His promises, we must know what the rules are.
Everything in life comes with instructions for success.  We all know how that goes.  God's instruction book is the Bible.  He spells out everything for total success.  Since He cannot lie, and He loves us, it is worth the effort it takes to learn His rules.  When you do, you realize that hope is in fact God's guarantee.
So my friends, is easy to see that if you view hope the way God does, your prayers become positive, and will yield what you pray for.  Faith and hope, are twins as far as I can tell.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Dreams Can Hurt

It Is Written, Proverbs 5:21,  for the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord,  and He ponders all his paths.
In ancient times, people believed strongly in dreams and visions. They guided their lives by dreams.  The Bible is full of stories about famous people and how dreams and visions influenced history in many cases.
Today most of us scoff at the dreams we have when we sleep.  Dreams have a tendency to be nonsense.  Bits of this and that, that make you ask, what was that all about?
Since almost no one pays any attention to dreams that make no sense, man found something to take their place.  We make plans to make things happen that make us happy.  They are in fact called dreams.  These dreams we tried to follow sometimes even obsessing about them.  As a matter of fact we can get so wrapped up in our dreams, that they end up destroying our families and our lives.  The reason is, we don't  know what is best for us, and many times we head off in the wrong direction.
Rejoice!  There is an answer.  Let your life be guided by God.  Ask Him for His plan for your life.   He sees it all, we don't.  He has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us in that plan.  How many times have you felt like something inside of you told you to do something?  Well my friends, that was the Holy Spirit trying to guide you on the right path.  I have found out the hard way in my life, that when I make plans, they end up being disastrous.  When I didn't listen to that little voice, again disastrous.
Sometimes it is hard for us, to forget our plans and dreams, and to count on God.  The only thing I can tell you from personal experience, is that every time I counted on God instead of myself, I was blessed beyond anything I expected.  At this point in my life, I can honestly tell you, for me it is a no-brainer to trust God.
We all have a free will, so trusting God is a choice.   Once you tell God that you want to follow His plan, there is nothing stopping you from going back to your plan. Although I think it would be unwise to do so. That option is yours.  If you follow God's plan, and give it an honest chance, I think you will stick with it.  Have a blessed day. Praise Lord!

Convicted Verses Condemned

It Is Written, Luke 6:36,  therefore be merciful just as your Father also is merciful.
Many people are under the impression that convicted is the same as condemned.  In the dictionary of Bible words, convict means to admonish, and condemn means to punish.
When the Holy Spirit convicts you of a sin,  He is doing you a big favor.  He is pointing out something you should repent for.  If not for the Holy Spirit doing that,  we would probably live in sin.
The 10 Commandments did the same thing.  Until the Commandments came along, each man lived as his heart dictated.  As we all know, the heart can get pretty ugly.  Now they were given a set of laws to judge their behavior.
When Jesus died on the cross, he forgave everyone, and freed them from condemnation.  Even though Jesus took away the punishment we all deserve, many people would not accept what Jesus did, and refused to repent, or accept Jesus as their Savior.  They in effect condemned themselves.
If the Holy Spirit brings up a sin, He is helping you to get right with God.  He is not condemning you, so don't condemn yourself.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

God Is a Spirit

It Is Written,  John 4:24,  God is a spirit,  and those who worship Him,  must worship in spirit and truth.
What does that mean?  Is it hard to do?  These questions have been asked for years.  The answer is not complicated.
If you read God's Word, you have no doubt figured out that God frowns on insincere sacrifices and prayer.  Cain's sacrifice was an example of an insincere offering.  Jesus talks about the rambling prayers of heathens.
In order for God to hear your prayers, they must come from your spirit.  It stands to reason that flesh talks to the flesh,  and spirit to spirit.
Okay, but how do you do that?  When you speak from your spirit (heart) you must speak with no hindrances such as unforgiveness,  lack of love for others, and so on.  With a clean heart, speak the truth in love for God.  God must be in your heart, not your cares and plans and whatever.  It is best to have total concentration in the conversation you are having with God.
Recently I read a book written by an old-time preacher that said he believes satan is not compelled to listen to us if we try to cast him out,  without being united in spirit with God.  I guess he doesn't listen to words that are just talk either.
So what it all boils down to, is that when you pray to God,  if you do it with all your heart, you are talking to him through your spirit.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Seed of Faith

It Is Written, Jude 1:20,  but you,  beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
It is pretty common for many Christians to feel like they don't have as much faith as someone else.  Some feel they need or want more faith, so they pray about it.
The reality of faith is this.  God puts the seed of faith in each person's heart to begin with.  Just as apple seeds are alike,  so are seeds of faith.
The heart of a man is the soil.  Luke 8:11 says the Word is the seed.  It is up to each of us to give that seed nourishment in order for it to grow. Studying the Word enriches that soil.  The water for that seed is love and forgiveness to our fellow man.  The light is Jesus, and the knowledge of Him and what He did for us.  Following God's perfect plan for us, makes it grow to whatever level we are led to take it to.
Man in his nature, no matter who he is, knows deep down inside, the existence of God.  It is up to each of us to recognize and follow what our heart tells us.  Salvation is the fruit and gift of God to those who will accept it.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

God Didn't Create Slaves

It Is Written, Galatians 4:5,  to read deem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
When we think of slavery, most of us think of the classic examples of slavery.  People held against their will, forced to do hard labor.
There are many forms of slavery in everyday life, and we don't even realize it.  The great majority of slavery is self-inflicted.  Let me explain.
Many people struggle with credit card debt, habits that put us in debt, such as drugs, habits that create health problems, such as alcohol, smoking, and drugs.
Then of course there are those who are obsessed with acquiring and having possessions.  Some are slaves to lust, and various other things. Incidentally, lust is not only sexual, but can apply to anything that we look at with that intense a desire.
Anything that causes us to be under control by someone or something, makes us a slave.  God did not intend for us to be slaves to anything.  Some people feel that if you follow God's will, you are His slave.
God sent His Son to save us, His Word to Instruct Us, and the Holy Spirit to Guide Us.  If we follow His will, we can avoid slavery of all kinds.  If you have a free will to decide whether to follow Him or not, you are not His slave, you are free.  It would probably be a very good idea, for all of us to take a look and see if any of this applies to us, and act appropriately.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

What Is In Your Heart?

It Is Written, Proverbs 4:23,  keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
Messages that affect your whole life, and the lives of those around you, begin in your heart.  The heart sends a message to your brain.  At that point, your brain determines how your life will be.  The brain then sends its decision to your body.  That decision can cause your body to react to circumstances in a positive or negative way.
Words spoken by God, created the world's.  Words operate in the spiritual world.  All words are acted on, for good or for bad.  Your words pronounced in faith of something positive, will result in good things. Negative words act the same way, producing bad results.
The safest way to live your life, is to fill your heart with the Holy Spirit, and your mind with the Word of God.  Live by God's law, and don't make your own laws.  When you hear yourself speak words,  they spring into action in the spirit world.  Be careful about what you speak.  You will be what you say.
Proverbs 23:7 says it best.  For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

It's Only the devil

It Is Written, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20,  do you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,  whom you have from God, and so you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price;  therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
Did you ever wake up in the morning feeling that you were disconnected from God, and life in general was boring and depressing?  When that happens, you are in fact being attacked by the devil.  No need to get in a panic though.
Have you ever seen a bully who terrorized everyone, get a real beating? Did you notice how no one was afraid of him anymore after that?  satan was like that bully until Jesus came along.  He was beat so bad by Jesus, that he will never recover.
satan still tries to get believers to doubt God,  by lying to them through suggestions and illusion's.  While he is doing this, he probably has his fingers crossed, hoping the believer doesn't catch on to what he is doing.
If you are being attacked, it is because he worries about you being on God's side. This conquered foe still thinks he can win. He is a loser, we are winners.  Calling on the Holy Spirit within us, and putting on the whole armor of God, puts another pin into satan's overinflated balloon. Faith overcomes fear. The blood of Jesus made satan ineffective against those who believe. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Jesus Is Always There

It Is Written, Isaiah 43:12,  when you pass through the waters,  I will be with you;  and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flames scorch you.
You have probably heard the story about Jesus calming a storm, in Matthew 8:23-26.  The part of the story that the apostles didn't realize at the time, because of fear, is simple to us now.
If you were on a boat with Jesus, or anywhere else for that matter, would you expect Jesus to perish?  Since Jesus is who He is,  as long as you were with Him, you would be safe.  You might get wet, but you wouldn't drown.
Every day life is like that.  We may face many difficulties every day.  Things may even look impossible at times.  We may get roughed up a little, but we will overcome if we have Jesus with us.
The great thing about Jesus is,  that He is always with us, if we want Him to be.  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, Philippians 4: 13.  If you make Jesus a part of your daily life,  when something comes up, you won't even have to think about it,  because in your heart you know, that He is always with you.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Living By Faith-An Epiphany

It Is Written, 2 Corinthians 5:7,  for we walk by faith, not by sight.
If you ask the average person what that verse means, they are probably going to say that God expects you to have nothing, and struggle to get by. That would be wrong.
It is no secret that we live in a messed up,  godless world.  Bad things happen every day.  The amount of violence and hate is overwhelming.  It is no surprise that some people live in fear to the point where they are practically helpless.  Depression is common for many people, because they do not know how to cope with what is going on.
There is a growing number of people, who are referred to as doomsday preppers.  These people, plan and practice, what they believe will help them survive a total collapse of the world, as far as government, economy and so on.
This is where faith comes in.  You don't deny how bad things are, you just don't let these things affect you, because you know God loves you and takes care of you.  This is living by faith.
The future is written in God's word.  The word tells us the whole story, all of the facts, no speculation.  If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you know you have nothing to worry about.  We win.  All of the bad stuff will pass.  If you believe in the rapture, you realize that you will be in heaven before the antichrist comes.
So my friends, if you realize that everything that happens, is a part of God's plan, you don't have to be a victim of circumstances.  Don't forget,  He knew who would follow Him, and who would reject Him.  His plan takes everything into consideration, including each person's choices, so you really have nothing to worry about, if you are a believer.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Tough Times

It Is Written, Proverbs 11:8,  the righteous is delivered from trouble, and it comes to the wicked instead.
Everyone in this world runs into tough times in varying degrees.  They are impossible to avoid.
Many Christians believe that because they are Christians, they should somehow avoid all tough times. That isn't what God said.  James 1:3, says, "knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience".
If you never have to face a test, how will your faith grow?  God is not partial to anyone, that includes those who love Him. The advantage that Christians have is what Jesus said. "I will never leave you or forsake you".
If we start having faith, that whatever we face is God's plan for our good, and stop asking "why me", our so-called tough times will reach a good conclusion sooner.
Remember, gold is refined by fire.  If it isn't, it is not fit for use in anything, and has little value. Which are you?  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Fear Is a Snare

It Is Written, Job 15:24,  trouble and anguish make him afraid;  they overpower him, like a king ready for battle.
There is godly fear, which is love for God, and ungodly fear, the kind associated with the devil.
Fear is one of the most powerful tools satan has to use against man.  Fear is the opposite of faith, so it is a potent prayer blocker.
Fear puts you in a position to make bad decisions.  Fear is unbelievable torment and despair.  A person can easily get into a downward spiral leading to despair and depression.
Once the seed of fear is planted,  the devil has an easy time making the other calamities happen.  A person can get so messed up, that he doesn't believe that God can turn it all around.
Job was in a bad way to, but since he still loved the Lord, in spite of what the devil did to him and his family, God rescued him.  There is hope for everyone who will go to the Lord and ask.  Have a blessed day.
Praise the Lord!

Use Your Gift

It Is Written, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11,  there are diversities of gifts,  but the same Spirit.  There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.  And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healing by the same Spirit to another working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
Many of us read these verses and think they don't apply to us.  We even feel that we don't measure up, and question the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
One of the biggest reasons people feel that way, is they don't study those verses. The key to understanding is in verse 11, but one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He will's.  AS HE WILLS!
Being human, we look at the gifts and pick out the ones we like.  Then we expect them to manifest, and we are disappointed when they don't.  We then think that maybe we aren't baptized in the Spirit.
I say these things to help you, because I have been there.  For a long time I was stewing over a certain gift.  Occasionally it would manifest, then nothing.
While I was going through all of this, a different gift was given to me that turned out to be very successful.  However I didn't appreciate it, or even recognize it, because I still wanted it my way.  These gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to fulfill God's plan, not ours.
When  this finally stuck in my head, I asked God to forgive me.  He did, and I have joy in my heart, because by faith, I know I am doing what God wants me to do.
Hopefully, by telling you what I went through, you will be helped in your journey. Remember, God's plan works in steps.  We go one step at a time as we are led.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Face God

It Is Written, Galatians 4:6, and because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out "ABBA  father".
What exactly is facing God?  Facing God the first thing in the morning, sets the tone for the day.  Do this one time, you will  probably keep doing it.
I start out by saying, good morning Father.  What would You have me do today?  Then I talk to Him for a few minutes, telling Him what is on my mind.  I thank Him for another day, and I ask Him to help me bless someone.  I also tell Him that I want to follow His will.  I then sit quietly for 10 or 15 minutes,  waiting for Him to put something in my heart.
The Holy Spirit then guides me through the day, I listen to Him, pay attention to that voice and follow it.  Start today talking to your heavenly Father.  It  really gets you going in the right direction. Have a blessed day.

Pray According to God's Will

It Is Written, James 4:3,  you ask and do not receive,  because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
It Is Written, Romans 8:26, likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought,  but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
For many people praying according to God's will is a mystery.  In books on that topic, you will find an answer that is simple but difficult for many people.  That answer is praying in the spirit with the gift of tongues.
When we are born again, we receive the Holy Spirit as described in Galatians 5:22.  That however is only a part of the answer.  If you choose, you can be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and you receive as described in 1 Corinthians 12.
Praying in what is called unknown tongues,  is something everyone does not agree on.  For those of us who pray in tongues,  it is the perfect prayer according to God's will.  It is probably the most powerful prayer.  You are praying in the spirit.  Even if you don't know how or what to pray,  the spirit does.  That type of prayer releases the power of God in your life.
Before you jump to conclusions either way, it would be wise to read, Tongues-Beyond The Upper Room by Kenneth E Hagan.  This book covers it all in clear language.  You'll be happy you took the time to read it.  I wish someone told me about it long before I finally found out.  Have a blessed day. Who Is the Holy Spirit?

It Is Written, 1 Corinthians 2:10,  but God has revealed the things He has for us through His spirit. For the Spirit searches all things,  yes, the deep things of God.
If we grew up with any Christian religion, we probably heard that the Holy Ghost is the third person of the Holy Trinity.  That's it, that's all, at least that is what I was taught.
We did not know if the Holy Spirit did anything,  or if He was just a figurehead.  Little if any information about Him.  It took years for me to find the truth.  I now know that the Holy Spirit brought me to God, as well as a number of other things.
The Holy Spirit draws us to Christ,  helps us to accept Jesus as our personal Savior, assures us of salvation, helps us understand the Bible, pray according to God's will, and tell others about Jesus.  He is also our comforter, provider of wisdom to us, our helper in all things, and a guide.
The mission of the Holy Spirit is to help us get to Heaven.  He is here in order to use Him to do what we are here for.  He is our constant companion.  We could write quite a lot about each of his jobs.  Praying according to God's will is next.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

The Word Is the Foundation

It Is Written, Matthew 7:24-27,  therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock;  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house;  and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand;  and the rain descended, the floods came,  and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell.  And great was its fall.
We have all heard the story of the two builders, and how they built their houses. 1 on rock, and 1 on sand.  It all makes sense to most people.  When Jesus told this parable,  He told the crowd that whoever did His sayings was like the first builder, and whoever didn't was like the second.
The foundation He was talking about was the Word.  When you study and meditate on the Word of God,  and do it,  your faith becomes like the solid foundation built on rock.  Whatever storms in life hit you,  your faith will get you through it,  because it is solid.
If you find that in your mind you don't have time for the Word because your life is too busy, you are building on the worst kind of sand with inferior materials.  If you were building an actual house, would you build it in a swamp,  or on shifting sands?  Probably not.
Your faith is supposed to be working on your eternal home.  Check the plans, (the Bible) can your foundation take what satan throws at it?  Have a blessed day. Praise Lord!

Born For A Reason

It Is Written, Proverbs 20:24,  a man's steps are of the Lord;  how then can a man understand his own way?
Have you ever wondered why you were born in this time and place in history?  The real answer is simple, but many people don't agree.  It is a part of God's plan for you and the world.
We are all born as part of God's entire plan.  We affect the people we come in contact with, in the place it was supposed to happen.  Picture everyone being a piece of a giant machine.  That machine needs each piece to work. We are part of that machine in this day and time.
This machine is the world.  It runs as bad as it does right now, because all of the pieces (people) are not operating where and how they are supposed to.  The owners manual (the Bible) is not being followed, so things aren't working.  Each of us was designed for this time and place, and a particular function.  Just as an apple seed cannot say "I will become a coconut tree" we must do what we are designed for.
If you are unhappy with the job that you have, where you live, etc.  Ask yourself if you are following the owners manual.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Check It out

It Is Written, acts 17:10-11, then the brethren  immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea.  When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.  These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica in that they received the Word with all the readiness and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
The people from the town of Berea wanted proof for the teaching they were receiving.  They didn't just take someone's word as the truth.
A number of preachers on TV have come right out and challenged their listeners to check out what they heard in the Bible.  They said don't take anybody's word for it not even theirs.  The Bible is the final word.
We are responsible for ourselves.  We have to know if something is true or not.  We cannot use the excuse that "I didn't know" or "no one told me", or "they didn't tell me the whole story".
You cannot learn the Bible from movies and TV.  Even people that  profess to be Christian, usually adjust to attract an audience.  Secular shows are in most in cases  quite a bit different than the Bible,  and for the most part not to be believed.
Friends can also lead you astray.  Many people repeat what someone else said.  You could have dozens of people passing on something that they claim is in the Bible.  Most of the time, not one of them actually read the Bible.
When our time comes, God wants to know what we learned from His Word, not what someone told us.  The Bible says, My people perish for lack of knowledge.  You can't be deceived if you know the truth.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Ghosts From The Past ?

It Is Written, acts 3:19,  repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,  so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.
If you are like most people, the things you did in the past come back to haunt you. They can mess up your life, and make you feel like there is no hope. They can even keep you doing wrong because you feel it makes no difference, like pouring water on a drowning man. You can only get so wet.
A person like this usually feels that it is impossible to be forgiven. That is a lie told by satan to hang on to the person. The very thing they need, is what they run from.  Praying for people like this is the only answer.
People who are saved, are not immune from these attacks, but they know what to do. They know in their hearts that they have been forgiven, and their past sins are no more.  Just because satan tries to convict you, you don't have to listen.  Jesus blood took care of all of those sins.  He paid the price, so how can you be guilty.  Your sins were totally blotted out.  Look at Peter or Paul.  They sinned big time, but Jesus took care of that too.
Stand on the word, and tell satan if he wants to dispute whether you are forgiven or not, take it up with your father in heaven.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!
