Spiritual Junk Food

It Is Written, Psalm 66:18, if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.
It is no secret that exercise and a good diet, makes for a healthy body. Fast food, and no exercise, all of the time will make for an unhealthy body. The same is true for your spirit. The junk food in this case however, falls into a couple of categories.
A. Media, news channels, and  newspapers. Most are full of lies, omissions, twisting of the truth, and just plain hate.
B. Friends and coworkers who gossip, complain, and are usually negative about everything.
C. People you see in public, doing things that may cause you to judge, complain, or do something that will develop un forgiveness in your heart.
D. Pick the wrong people to associate with. Many people will do things with a group that they would not do on their own. Being with the wrong people in the wrong place can bring about a mob mentality.
At first glance you may think it is impossible to avoid all this. Here is the answer to success. Feed your spirit with God's Word every morning. Meditate on a verse that strikes you, it really helps.
In our prayers, we must approach God with a clean heart to get our requests. As you feed on the things of God, you will eventually get there. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

The Garden

It Is Written,1 Peter 5:8, be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
This may be something for all of us to think about. It may put a new light on everyday life. Recently while meditating on the Word, this thought came to me, and really made me think about life in general.
Life is like a beautiful garden. The garden is full of flowers of every description, one prettier than the next. As we are admiring the beauty, we notice a weed or two. In case someone needs to have it explained more clearly, flowers represent blessings, and the weeds are satan's attempts to ugly up the garden.
There is no foolproof way to keep weeds from popping up, just as there is no way to keep satan from trying to destroy our blessings. In the garden we pull the weeds, making sure we get the root, so that the weed does not come back. Weeds from satan ( problems or temptations ) must also be spiritually pulled out, including the root. Remember that satan feeds the roots of his weeds in order to try to take over the whole garden.
All who have received salvation, have the authority of the believer. That authority is to use the name of Jesus to cast satan out. If you tell satan to leave in Jesus name, he has no choice. As it says in James 4:7, therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

A Wasted Life

It Is Written, Revelation 21:4, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
Have you ever looked back at your life, and felt that for the most part, it was wasted? At one time, I was part of an army of those who are depressed or angry about their lives.
I started to realize many things in life when I found  Jesus. I was created for better things, according to God's plan for me. If we don't know Jesus, we don't know God's plan. We do things our way, and usually get messed up, because we do not see the circumstances that come into play.
I believe God allows many things to happen, because it shows us how much we need Him. God operates like a GPS system. We start going the wrong way, and He corrects our course. It is His will that all be saved. He keeps trying with anyone who does not reject Jesus.
When you stop and look back with an open mind, you can see how all of the steps are connected one way or another, to get you where you are today. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you begin to hear His voice. If you follow Him with all your heart, your wasted days are over. He is waiting for your decision. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Occasional Weakness

It Is Written, Psalm 34:19, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Weakness is something believers and nonbelievers have experienced. Most of the time, fear and weakness in faith, kind of sneak up on us. How we handle it is what counts. satan tries to plant doubt in each of us, for one of two reasons. Let's look at each of them.
When a believer experiences an attack, usually they start to feel guilty about something. They feel guilty because they had the seed of doubt planted by satan.
When we experience evil thoughts, doubt, fear, and such, we must realize that they are satan's thoughts and not ours. We have no control over what he tries to put in our heads, but we can reject his ideas. It is not a sin, unless we take ownership of those thoughts. As long as we live, satan will try to get us away from God. Always remember though, that Jesus died for our sins, and we can turn to Him for reassurance.
Nonbelievers who are attacked by satan, usually don't know any better, so fear, doubt, and guilt grow. If they think about God at all, they wrongly figure that God will not forgive them. This is also satan's attempt to keep people from God.
The truth is, that all of us are forgiven because of Jesus death and resurrection. All we have to do is accept Jesus and repent. No sins are beyond God's mercy. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

The Holy Spirit In Action

It Is Written,1 Corinthians 2:13, these things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
I'd like to tell you about an incident that happened to me recently. I tell this story to help someone to realize that none of our needs are too small for the Holy Spirit to handle.
This past January, I had bypass surgery. The cardiologist told me that I cannot shovel snow, until further notice.
Well, I came home, and almost 2 months went by without any snow. Very unusual for where I live. While talking to my son, I thought I would be a wise guy, so I told him that since I couldn't shovel snow, the Holy Spirit didn't let it snow. I was believing what I said, no matter how silly it may have sounded to someone else.
A few weeks later, we got about 4 inches of snow at night. The next morning when I saw all of that snow, the thought went through my mind, what am I going to do? At that point, I said to the Lord, I would appreciate if He could send someone to shovel. I thanked Him, and didn't give it another thought, and went about what I was doing.
About an hour later, I looked out of my front window, and I saw five neighbors shoveling my driveway and sidewalk. They even got the snow off the car. The funny part about this whole story, is that it was exactly as I said. I guess you could say the way it came about, with me asking the Lord, and forgetting about it, showed me once again, and him how faith works. Is the Holy Spirit great or what? God bless you and your family. Praise Lord!

Like A Movie

It Is Written,1 Peter 4:12, beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you.
An interesting thought occurred to me while talking to a friend. We were talking about life, and as is common among people, it contained a few "if I knew then".
Shakespeare said, all the world is a stage, and we are the players. If you think about it, there is something to be said for that idea. As it says in Proverbs 3:5-6, trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.
If we look back at the past, it is like watching old movies on TV. The movie is finished and is not likely to be changed unless someone decides to do a remake. The good thing is, if we decide at some point in our lives, we can do a remake for the future. Everything in life, is how you look at it.
In life, things happen for no apparent reason. I started looking at these as distractions from satan, as he tries to get our eyes off the prize. Kind of like watching a movie on TV, that keeps getting interrupted by commercials so often, that you forget what the movie was about.
The best way to remake the rest of your life, is to know Jesus, and take the Holy Spirit with you. To get started all you have to do, is ask the Lord to help you. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

A True Story of God's Mercy

It Is Written, Ephesians 2:8-9, for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
I tell this true story, because I feel that someone needs to hear it. The truth of God's mercy is for anyone who receives it. I am a Christian, but this will apply to anyone who accepts Jesus as Savior, and repents, even at what could be the last minute.
On a recent Sunday morning, I was having chest pains. I asked the Lord for help, and decided to go to the emergency room. While all this was going on, I felt a real sense of peace, no concern at all about the outcome.
I was admitted, and spent two days of tests, to find out the problem. Again a sense of peace, and talking to the Lord. The results came back, and a triple bypass was the answer. There seemed to be somewhat of a hurry to do this, because I was transferred to another hospital, that had an opening for surgery.
The surgery was successful, but two days later in the evening, I developed an irregular heartbeat. Not good at any time, especially after surgery. They gave me some type of drug to counteract that problem.
As I lay in bed looking at the monitor, I spoke to the Lord. I told Him that I trusted Him, and that if I woke up seeing Him, or in my bed, either one was okay with me. Obviously I woke up in bed.
The whole point is, you can call on Jesus at any time, for any reason, and He will help. Through the entire experience, I felt God's love, peace, and His  unbelievable mercy. I can honestly say there was no fear at all, because fear cannot replace God's peace.
No matter how things seem, no matter how bad somebody says it is, turn to the Lord and trust in Him, and He will take care of everything. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Practical Reasons For The Bible

It Is Written, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Many people avoid the Bible, for as many reasons as there are people. This is really unfortunate, because they don't have a clue as to what they are missing. The same people who say they have no time, spend plenty of time pursuing things that have no value to them, and do not improve their lives.
The Bible is difficult for many people to understand most of the time, because they have an old version like the King James. There are so many translations out today, that are so simple, that literally a child can understand. They are written in plain everyday English that we all use. Some examples are, the amplified Bible, the message, the NLT version ( the new living translation ).
After spending many years in a lifetime without direction, many people finally come to the Bible. With even a little effort it will change their lives for the better. The amazing thing with God is, it is never too late.
Whether you are young or old, the Bible will change your life. It is packed with the wisdom of God, for a great life. Study the words, starting with Proverbs, or Ecclesiastes. Follow the principles outlined, and your life will turn for the best that God has to offer. It is by reading His Word that you find out what His plan for your life is and what He expects out of you and me. It sure beats all of the so-called, self-help books, written by so-called experts. The Bible is the ultimate self-help book, written by God Himself..
Invest the time, live it, and reap the rewards. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Head Off Unhappiness

It Is Written, Philippians 4:6, be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
It is pretty common for people to go through times of unhappiness. At the time we are going through it, it almost never dawns on us, that  unhappiness is usually avoidable. There is a way of combating this problem.
When we are unhappy, it is usually because of things, or situations that we choose to worry about, or feel unsatisfied about. Sometimes we even feel God doesn't love us. That is satan talking, so stop listening.
If you think someone has it better than you, realize that for each person that has it better than you, nine are much worse off than you.
I thought I was thankful to God most of the time. Then the Holy Spirit showed me the truth, I found out just how thankful I should be. I came to realize just how well-off I am, when I watched the news, and several documentaries that were on TV in the last few weeks.
Most of us have not had the misfortune of living in the middle of war, going without food, water, or shelter. Most of us are not among the tens of millions who are in fact slaves of one kind or another. We all knew slavery always was and is  horrible beyond imagination. That, but for the grace of God could be you and me.
We must always think about how blessed we are. When you think about how things could be, thank God most of us have tiny problems. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!

What If?

It Is Written, Jeremiah 29:11, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
What if you could see your whole life up to the age of 70 or so? You would see your life from the time you found out you were alive. Think about that for a minute. Your growing up years, your time in school, your jobs, your marriage, your children. Everything you ever did or thought.
If you could go back and change anything, would you? Are there any regrets, or deep hurts? Can you see what might have been better if you had done some things differently?
Sadly, we cannot go back. We reach old age and see things a lot different than when we were young. You will realize that some things didn't seem to matter but, were actually important, and things that seemed important, really weren't.
Depending on how old you are, determines how much of your life will be a joy when you look back. This is easily done.
Empty your mind, and open your heart. Only God knows how to make each step, thought, and action perfect. You can take advantage of that by giving your life to God, and letting Him lead you. He loves you, He will give you His best. Talk to Him. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!

Bold, Effective, Prayer

It Is Written, Hebrews 4:16 let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Prayer, does not mean loud and aggressive. It simply means that you pray with authority given to you by God. In order to use this authority effectively, you must first of all realize that you are a child of God. You must behave the way a child of God is supposed to, by following God's will and plan for you the way  Jesus did.
It is common for someone who is being attacked by satan, to get loud, yell at him, and repeat all of the prayers to rebuke satan as if they were magic. When satan doesn't leave, the person is attacked even more.
satan is not stupid. He recognizes those who really know they are a child of God, and know they have the authority to rebuke With a single word. satan must leave when children of God use their authority.
It is the same way with Prayer. Petition God, as a child of God, and God will provide His best. Being a child of God, and knowing it in your heart produces results, because there is no doubt about faith or trust in the Lord. Remember whatever you ask the father in Jesus name, and believe you have what you ask for, it will be yours. God bless you and your family. Praise Lord!

Why Not Me?

It Is Written, 1 John 4:17, love has been perfected among us in this; that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
You have probably heard many people say, why me? You might have even said that yourself. You may think I'm a little nutty, when I say, why not me?
Let me explain. We all know that Jesus died on the cross, and rose again, in order to forgive our sins, and make us right with God.
When you realize the full impact of what Jesus did, you realize that you are now a child of God. God does not have favorite sons or daughters, He loves them all the same. What He does for one, He will do for all. You must put the words, why not me , in your heart and mind.
During Jesus time on earth, He said He only did what His father did or said. He said this on a number of occasions. Since Jesus was God's Son, because of Jesus, we have the same Father.
When we go to our Father in prayer, we tell Him what we need, or want, and we thank Him for giving us His best in regard to our petition, and live knowing that our prayer is answered. You may want to say to yourself, why not me, before you pray, with faith and trust in your Father to do His best for you, just like He does for all who know and love Him. God Bless You and Your Family. Praise Lord!
