Know Jesus Like the Apostles Did

It Is Written, Acts 1:21-22 therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time as the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.
Many of us think we know Jesus. There's no question we know about  Him, but do we know Him?
You may be wondering how you get to really know the real Jesus. It seems to me that a good answer is, you must know Him as the apostles did.
It will take a little effort, but it is well worth it. Study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Read slowly, and put yourself in the story. See what Jesus said or did, and how the apostles reacted.
Instead of just observing, put yourself with the apostles for each event. See Jesus love for man, the way they did. Feel how witnessing the blind given sight, or the lame walking, would affect you. About the reaction to the loaves and fish?
Feel the anguish and heartbreak He felt when He was rejected and hated by some of the people He healed. He knew everything that would happen, but He loved and healed people anyway.
When you look at Him for who He is, it is not hard to believe that He loves us, no matter what we did in the past. Accept Jesus as Savior, repent, and believe. Hebrews 13:5 says, I will never leave you or forsake you. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!

Believe Salvation

It Is Written, Romans 10:9, if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
There are many Christians who have a problem with believing that their prayers will get answered. This is not uncommon.
Answer these questions. Is Jesus your Savior? Did He die and rise again? Did you repent, and ask Him to come into your heart? Do you believe today's verse? If you answered yes to all of these questions, and agree with Ephesians 2:8-9, for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast, you are saved.
Now back to the prayer problem. If you believe you are saved through faith, does it not seem reasonable to think, that the same faith in prayer, will get results? If you know the way Jesus is, by reading the Gospels, it is easy to take Him at His Word.
If you pursue anything with all your heart, you will become an expert. The more you work at growing your faith, the more you will receive results in your prayer life. As in life, you won't trust someone you don't know, so it stands to reason, before you can do anything, you must know Jesus. God bless you and your family. Prayer of salvation.

Coffee With Jesus

It Is Written, Revelation 3:20, behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
This unusual title was not planned in advance, but came about all by itself from experience.
I have an office in my home that I use for time with Jesus, reading my Bible, prayer, and writing blogs. It is what my wife calls, a prayer room, a place dedicated to what I do.
I start my day talking to Jesus, and listening for His voice. This morning, I did something I had never done before. I had my morning coffee in my prayer room.
I felt a little strange doing that, but I felt no disrespect toward Jesus. Apparently He was fine with the idea too. I believe that if it was wrong, the Holy Spirit would have told me.
Without even thinking about it, I started talking to Jesus, as if He was there in the flesh. You know how you feel just relaxing with your best friend, saying what is on your mind, and in your heart, stuff like that.
My conversation with Jesus, was overwhelming with peace and love. I say conversation, because it really felt like one. I swear I could hear every word He said. Not out loud , but in my heart. I plan on having coffee with Jesus every morning from now on. That coffee with Jesus gave a real boost to the start of my day, and all the rest of it too. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!

Declare Divine Favor

It Is Written, Psalm 84:11, for the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Another way to look at God's favor, is to see His blessings. One thing we must understand from the start is, blessings like salvation are a gift from God. We cannot earn salvation or blessings.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, and the fact that He died for our sins, we become righteous in God's eyes, and become a child of God.
Just as human parents love their children, and have a warm spot for them, especially when the child loves them back, and does what they are told, how much more the Father loves us.
We give gifts and do some special things, for those we love. They don't have to earn our favor, we just bless them. As a child of God, just tell our Father that you are grateful for His favor, and enjoy. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

God Takes Care of Us

It Is Written, 1 Peter 5:7, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
People are all different. Some believe there is a God, but many do not believe He is the creator of the universe.
Many dismiss the idea of the existence of God the creator, and instead believe in evolution. They think that God is totally untrue, but the outlandish ideas of evolution are real.
Whether you believe in God or not, He believes in you. God works in making Himself known to everyone. He does this by helping us with many problems. The trouble is, people call something good that happens, luck.
As life goes on, those who totally ignore God, hear less and less from Him. He allows us to make our own mistakes, in order to wake us up. He still cares, but will not force himself on us.
I for one, spent most of my life, indifferent to God. Then one day I asked him to show me if He was real. He did it in a big way, that left no room for doubt in my mind. That however is another story.
When I look back at all of the stupid, harmful, careless things I did in my life, I see how He still loved me, even though I didn't even acknowledge Him. My advice is, take a look at your life and see where God would have made a difference if you had listened. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!

Who is Jesus ?

It is written, 1 John 2:1, my little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.
The question, who is Jesus, can be answered by hundreds of descriptive verses, and names, describing his actions toward us.
All of the above are helpful, but do they describe the Jesus that we are supposed to love and serve? The best way to build a relationship with Jesus, is to know Jesus the man.
Our human minds cannot imagine how unbelievable Jesus is as God. These are scriptural realms, that we can only know by revelation from the Holy Spirit. So it seems logical to me, that we answer that question in human terms. After all, we need to know who we are worshiping and serving.
When Jesus was here, He left His Godliness behind, in order to see firsthand, how man's life was lived. Since we need to know the real Jesus, the best place to start is in God's Word.
If you read the Gospels, you get to see many examples of Jesus love for man. Take your time and see how much Jesus did out of love. He even forgave those who crucified Him, and did so many horrendous things to Him.
If you put all of this together, you'll see that there is no one that is greater, deserving of our love and praise, our service, and even our lives. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

The Talents

It Is Written, Romans 12:6-8, having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministry, he who teaches, in teaching: he who exhorts, and exhortation; he who gives with liberality; he who leads, with diligence, he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
When we hear the word talents, in a religious setting, immediately think of Matthew 25:14 to 30. The story tells about a man who went on a journey and gave money to three servants, expecting them to do something with what he gave them. We all know how that turned out.
The average person doesn't realize that God gave each of us talents in the form of intelligence, and abilities, and ambitions of all kinds, such as we see in the Romans 22 verse above.
God expects each of us to use what He gives us, in order to help others, as well as ourselves. Each person's plan from God is supposed to act with other people's plans from God, for the good of all.
When we follow God's plan, and use what He gives us to the best of our abilities, we are pleasing Him, and giving our lives meaning, fulfillment, and peace.
Every person has some kind of gift. We must put out the effort to find it, and then follow through with it, in the name of Jesus. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!

The Blood

It Is Written, Hebrews 9:22, and according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood, there is no remission.
Anyone familiar with the Bible realizes that blood plays a major role throughout the history of Israel.
Lambs blood was spilled in the Old Testament, in atonement for sins. Lambs blood on door posts at the time of the Exodus was to indicate to death that it must pass the house.
Jesus is the Lamb of God. God sent Him to shed His blood for the sins of man, because only His blood was capable of doing it. When Jesus shed His blood for us, we became righteous in God's eyes
I have always believed that if someone had the blood of Jesus on a towel or even a rag, it had the power to heal physically, spiritually, and mentally. The cloth from Paul touched the sick person, and they were healed. How much greater is Jesus? The Holy Spirit does the miracles in any case.
One of my favorite ways to pray, starts out with, in the name of Jesus, and by His blood, through the power of the Holy Spirit. There is real prayer answering power in these words. Try it. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!

A Lazy Believer

It Is Written, James 1:22-24, but be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
Many people claim to be Christians. In the United States, some 70-80% of the people who were asked if they were Christian, answered yes.
Let's take a look. The average person who claims to be a Christian, bases it on his own opinion, not by what the Bible says. Just because we go to church once in a while, or give a couple of bucks to charity once in a while, or we have heard of Jesus, none of this makes us a Christian.
The Bible is pretty clear about what we have to do to attain eternal life through Jesus. It also explains what we are to do, in Galatians 5: 22- 25, but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, against such there is no law and those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires: if we live in the spirit let us also walk in the spirit. And what not to do in Galatians 5:19-21, now the works of the flesh are evident, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, deceptions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, rivalries, and the like of which I tell you before hand just as I also told you in time past, those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
It seems reasonable at this point to make a couple of assumptions. If people who claim to be Christians, live by what the Bible says, would our country, or the world, be the lawless places they are?
To spend eternity with the Lord, we must know Him, love Him, and serve Him, according to His Word, and not by what the world thinks. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Who Are You ?

It Is Written John 1:12-13, but as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
In order to answer that question, we must take a good, hard, honest look, at how we live. There are two possibilities, and each of us chooses one by our actions.
If we accept Jesus, ask forgiveness, and listen to His voice, we are children of God. As children of God, we live by His Word, and reject the things of this world, and live in the expectation of eternity with Him.
If on the other hand, we embrace the ways of the world, a couple of things happen. We live in sin of all kinds. Pleasures of sin, take over our lives, and drive us further and further from God. We get to the point where our conscience, which is how God communicates with us, is dead, and we no longer hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.
When we reject God, in favor of the world and sin, we become children of satan. By the mercy of God, we can go back to Him, but the vast majority of people are so far gone, they refuse to repent.
Ask yourself. Who am I, and where am I going? God bless you and your family. Praise Lord!

The Cost of Doubt

It Is Written, James 1:6-8, but let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Doubt is defined as a feeling of uncertainty, or lack of conviction. As you can tell from today's verse, doubt keeps prayers from being answered.
When it comes to God's Word, doubt is ugly, and hurtful to God. Doubt is your mind telling you that the Word of God cannot be relied on. There is no other way to describe it.
When we pray, our spirit knows that the Word of God is always true. Our hearts know it too. The problem is that our minds are vulnerable to negative attacks by satan.
As we know already, thoughts that pass through our minds, do not make us guilty, unless we accept them. The same is true about doubt. If we do not accept, and instead reject them, God will  and does have mercy on us.
God has never lied, and will not lie in the future. All believers are children of God. When we live as we are led by the spirit, we are showing God that we love and trust Him.
If you find yourself starting to doubt, listen to your heart, and call on the Holy Spirit to help you. He will. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!
