You Are an Influence

It Is Written, Romans 6:13, and do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present  yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as righteousness to God.
Paul was talking about grace, and how we should avoid sin and the lusts of the body. Whether we live by grace or not, influences others as well as ourselves.
It is things we do, that has the greatest impact on other people, especially children. Even the youngest child will figure out if someone is a phony. You can tell a child that they shouldn't smoke for instance, then as you are talking you light up. You start a credibility gap with that child, that can end up shaping their personalities and actions.
Another example is someone who goes to church every week, but lives his life according to the flesh. Lying, cheating, gossip, and the like, do not tell people that you believe in God. Again a neighbor or friend might see the way you are and start acting like you.
If you are helpful to coworkers, don't gossip, you are kind, you will probably help someone else to act the same way, because the actions of a real Christian can help someone's heart change.
Whether for good or bad, what you do sends a message that is much more powerful than what you say. Jesus spent His life on Earth, practicing what He preached. What do your actions preach to other people? Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Time

It Is Written, Psalm 16:8, I have set the Lord before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
The Lord is always with us because He loves us. Unfortunately, most of us forget that. Since He created us, and showers us with blessings, it is only right that we should love and honor Him.
Here is an example of what I am talking about. Suppose you are busy all day with the cares of the world. You never find time to say two words to the Lord all day. The Bible is not on your to do list.
Well my friend, it is time to reevaluate your priorities. Is everything you do more important than your Creator, or your eternal life? Do you spend too much time on things that have no real value in your life?
Here is a little exercise that will give you a true picture of what is important to you. Every day has 86,400 seconds. How do you spend those seconds? Be honest. Take the time to list everything you do, and give it a value in seconds. Is God on the list? Where is He on the list? If you were God, how would you feel about the score?
If God was not on your list, or you didn't have time to see where He fits in, I suggest you reconsider your path in life and beyond. It is never too soon to start in the right direction, and it is never too late. God is always with you. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Faith Is No Mystery

It Is Written, Romans 4:21, and being fully convinced that what He had promised, He was also able to perform.
By now you have probably heard dozens of verses about faith. You might be getting discouraged, because you think you don't have faith. All kinds of negativity pops into your head about your prayers being answered or not. This only adds to your doubt about your faith.
First of all, according to Romans 12:3, we have all been given a measure of faith. Most of us think that it is some impossible thing, that we just don't have enough of. We cannot make ourselves have faith, the way most people understand faith.
Faith is a gift from God. Psalm 37:5 says, commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. The elusive answer is right there. Faith is just trusting in the Lord.
When you pray, place your trust and hope(expectation of what you prayed for) in God. If you believe in Him to make it happen, that is faith.
Remember this. If God said it, it is. If the Bible said it, it is. Faith is just a matter of trust in God. If you know God through His Word, and follow it, it is a no-brainer. Trust in God is the answer to all thing's. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

God Is Known to Everyone

It Is Written, Romans 1:20, for since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.
I have heard people say that God is not fair, because many people have not heard of Him. As this verse says, look around you. Can any of what you see be the accident that unbelievers speak of?
Some people may not have heard about God in a school or a church, but since man was first on the earth, in his heart he knew there was a creator. People for centuries did not want to anger God, and did their best to do things they thought would guarantee his favor. They didn't even know his name. They were probably much smarter than many people today, who constantly reject God and creation. They have eyes to see and do not see.
God is absolutely fair about everything. It is up to His judgment how each person is accountable, not ours. Relax and remember that the creator of all things, is very capable of figuring it all out. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Memorial Day, No Greater Love

It Is Written, John 15:13, greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
On this Memorial Day, we honor the men and women of the military. We can never be too grateful to those who leave family, job, and they're comfy life, so that we can live in safety and freedom.
God gave His only son so that we could be saved. This was the greatest sacrifice of all time. Countless men and women left their mothers, spouses, and families, so we could be free.
Even if we are at peace, these heroes stay alert and still sacrifice. We sleep peacefully at night because of their sacrifice. They are a perfect example of what John 15:13 says.
So let us remember what they are doing for us. Many have given their lives over the years for our freedom. They are doing God's work and I'm sure that God honors them too.
They defend us physically, and most importantly spiritually. As we honor them, we should praise God for these, our brothers and sisters. Keep them in your prayers always, so that Almighty God will protect them and bring them home safely.

Enjoy Life

It Is Written, Proverbs 16:9, a man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
We go through life mostly doing the things we must do. There are some occasions where we do what we enjoy. What most of us don't realize, is that regardless of what it is, there will eventually be an end to it.
Realizing that God is in control puts a different light on things. Everything in life is directed by God, based on our decision to let Him guide us. Compare God to a GPS. When we miss a turn and start going in the wrong direction, the GPS recalculates to get us back on track. God does the same thing.
Since God is in control, we can relax. If you stop and realize that everything you do with the proper attitude pleases and praises God, your must do, won't seem as hard to do. It has been said, that when you do something, do it like it was your last day. That bit of worldly advice can be taken a different way.
Enjoy everything you do to the max, because it is a gift from God. It is true anything can be the last time you do it, but that doesn't necessarily mean death. There are many reasons you stop doing certain things. If you put yourself into something with joy, and do it with all your heart, God may just present you with a new gift. His plans for you are better than anything you can come up with, and His plans lead to heaven.
One last thought. The path to heaven is long and narrow, and without the Lord's guidance we would probably get lost. So put your hope and trust in Him, and you will have peace in your heart. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Receive the Holy Spirit 2 Ways

It Is Written,1 John 4:13, by this we know we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His spirit.
There is quite a bit of confusion about the Holy Spirit, even among many Christians. There are in fact two ways to receive the Holy Spirit, and  both are evidenced differently.
Everyone receives the Holy Spirit when they accept Jesus Christ as Savior.  At that time we receive what is called the fruit of the Spirit. These fruits as they are called, identify us as Christians to unbelievers. The Holy Spirit comes automatically at salvation.
The fruits of the spirit are found in Galatians 5:22-23. They are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If you aren't sure what some of these mean, do not use a regular dictionary. Google Bible Questions Answered, and you will find reliable sites to explain them.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are found in1 Corinthians 12:7-11. Some people say that they stopped when the apostles died. Not true. There is plenty of evidence they still exist if you look around you.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is received by choice. You must be baptized by your pastor or another real Christian. The gifts are, the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, healings by the Holy Spirit, working of miracles by the spirit, teaching, leadership, giving, mercy, and faith, prophecy, discerning of spirits, and tongues which is the Holy Spirit speaking through you, the interpretation of tongues.
Unlike the fruits which everyone receives at salvation. The gifts are given to individuals as the Holy Spirit sees fit. The gifts are usually given one at a time for a specific purpose, as the Holy Spirit helps you in whatever He calls you to do. I must add this little caveat. If you do not believe in the power of the Holy Spirit working through you, you will never experience any of the gifts. Faith is the key to everything in a Christian life. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Forgiveness Is Critical

It Is Written, Matthew 6:14, 15, for if you forgive men their trespasses your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
It Is Written, Ephesians 1:7, and Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
One of the hardest things for most people to do, is to forgive someone. Sometimes our anger blinds us to some important truths.
Forgiveness is so important to God, that He sent His only son to spill His blood and die for people who hated Him and committed unspeakable sins.
When you forgive someone, you make satan angry, you bring peace to yourself, and you please God by honoring His wishes. By the way, His wishes are actually commands, given for our benefit.
The old cliché, anger and unforgiveness is like taking poison, and expecting the one you are angry with to die, is a good description of what unforgiveness is. Forgiveness really does bring you peace in your heart, and brings you closer to God.
One more point. The other person probably doesn't know or care about whether you forgive him or not. He may be happy that your anger is eating you up though. If you don't forgive, the other guy wins. Forgive, and you win. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Five Keys to Hearing God's Voice

It Is Written, Isaiah 6:8, also I heard the voice of the Lord saying; "whom shall I send, and who will go for us"? Then I said, "here am I"! Send me.
The Lord spoke to the prophets, those we call holy people, and those He spoke to for a special reason, such as Moses and Noah.
If you tell anyone today that you hear from God, most will laugh at you. The fact is He speaks to everyone. Unfortunately only a small percentage hear Him. You can be one of those people. His voice mostly comes to your heart, not your brain or in an audible way.
Habakkuk 2:1-3 tells you how. I give you the simplified but accurate way to hear God based on that verse. Follow it sincerely and you'll see what I mean.
1) Have a special, private place, where you talk to the Lord every day, preferably first thing in the morning. Habakkuk says "I will stand my watch"
2) Look for God to speak to you in a dream or vision. Habakkuk says "watch to see".
3) listen for His word. Habakkuk says "He will say to me".
4) Keep a journal. Habakkuk says "write the vision".
5) Wait for God to make it happen. Habakkuk says "it will surely come".
If you follow these steps, as Habakkuk laid them out, and do not doubt in your heart, you will hear God speak to you. You must be consistent, and take the time to do it the right way. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

How You Look at It

It Is Written, Proverbs 8:17, I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently, will find me.
At one time or another, every one of us has been through what we thought was a test. Some of us have had multiple tests. Everyone has problems that pop up. They usually come up at what seems like the worst possible time. Sometimes it seems there is no end to them.
Whether you call it a problem or a test, it really is the same thing. They come up because satan is always trying to get us away from God. He wants us to start  doubting God's love for us.
God loves us more than we can imagine, and wants us to come to Him and love Him. The thing that is hard for us remember when we are going through one of these tests, is that God's plan for us and His timing is for our best. satan tries to use that to plant doubt.
Here we come to the point where you have to decide whether you are going to take the positive thoughts with God, or the negative thoughts with satan. You have to make a conscious decision, to look at it God's way. In order to do that, you must have complete trust in God.
If you seek the Lord with all your heart, you will come to know him so well, that satan will be wasting his time with you. You're waiting on God is a real faith builder. If you have God in your heart, there is no room for satan to stick his foot in.
The choice is yours. Let God take over and be a winner, or listen to satan and suffer the ultimate loss. Your life now and later depends on how you see things now. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Armor Of God

It Is Written, Ephesians 6:11-13, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.
You have probably heard of the Armor of God. As you know, it is spiritual armor to protect you from satan's weapons, and the evils of this world.
The Armor of God is best described by using the example of what the Roman soldiers wore. It really is a very good tool to help you visualize the armor we are to put on spiritually. If you use it the way it is described above, you will get maximum protection for your spiritual life. Recite what the picture says every morning, and see yourself wearing that armor.
In Roman times the soldiers faced people who wanted to take their lives. In this present world, we face foes who want to take our souls, and deprive us of eternity with God. Do not kid your self for one moment. The situation that exists, is best described as critical for Christians. The armor helps us to stay right with the Lord. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Isaiah 53:5

It is sad to say, but most people do not realize what was accomplished by Jesus on the cross.
God looks at His commandments as covering much more than we do. For instance, lust in your heart is the equivalent of adultery and fornication. Anger at your brother is like murder in God's eyes.
When we look at things the way, God does, it is impossible for man to avoid sin. The average person probably sins dozens of times every day, according to God's standards.
Fortunately, God's forgiveness of our sins is like a rushing stream; it washes all the junk out of the way. Without His love and continuing forgiveness, we would all be doomed. All He wants in return is for us to love Him and trust Him.
Take a look at what you say or do for a couple of hours on any given day. You will be shocked if you use God standards. You will start to realize what Jesus did on the cross. He paid for it all so we wouldn't have to. Jesus did it all, according to God's plan, so that we could spend eternity with Him. How great is that? Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

IMPORTANT-Protect Your Children

As we all know, it is a tough world out there. Our children are constantly bombarded by satan and the evils of this world. They may know people who hate the name of Jesus. God is being taken out of everything.
College is  loaded with atheist professors, and radical, ungodly people. How can your child be faithful to Jesus? How can you be sure they will not be overcome?
It Is Written, Proverbs 22:6, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
This proverb tells you to train your child. From the time they are very small, tell them Bible stories from a Bible written for children. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you teach that child, and that the child's heart be receptive. Do not, however, beat them over the head with religion.
It is your responsibility. Teach your children by example. All of this is your God-given job; do your best with the Holy Spirit's help. Turn your children over to God's care, and they will prosper in spite of the world.
One final note. It is never too late, just a little more difficult when they are older. If you don't train your children, the world will. By the grace of God, do it for your child's  salvation. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

The Day The Lord Has Made

In the life of the average person, this Psalm has more than likely been heard a good number of times. Even some Christians don't realize it is not just an old saying, but a part of the Bible.
Look at the Bible as God's plan for your life. Look at verses as days. As you live each day, many seem insignificant, or they are hard for us to accept. We must realize that each day is like each verse, part of that perfect plan.
I hate to compare the Bible to something worldly, but here is a short example. If the Mona Lisa was painted without one lip, would it be the masterpiece it is?
God sees the whole picture, and no peace is insignificant. Each piece is  vital to the whole. Just because we cannot see the entire picture, it is no reason to reject a part of it. When we are able to do God's job, then we can decide. Until then(which is never) we need to do it His way. Look at each day as the day the Lord has made, and rejoice and be glad in it. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Prayer

There are many types of prayer in the Bible. Pray for others, pray for yourself, public, private, whatever the need at the time.
If you take time with the Bible, starting with the New Testament, then perhaps Isaiah, Proverbs, Psalm, you'll have a working knowledge of effective prayer.
One big factor is no unforgiveness in your heart.  Love for your fellow man that compels you to pray for someone is what is needed. Take some time and do it. Prayer is always effective if done by our Savior's rules. Prayer does not have to be elaborate, but it must be from the heart. It Is the way God gave us to talk to Him, just as the Bible is His way of talking to us. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Cast Your Cares

If you live in this world, you have wants and needs. There are a number of ways to satisfy those needs. There is an old saying that is wise, but very few people pay attention to it. "Let the buyer beware". This is a pearl of wisdom.
satan is out there and he is trying to ruin our lives. One of his most effective tools right now is the Internet. It is full of scams run by anonymous companies. We have all experienced one or more of these. As a matter of fact, there is a website I found, that encourages people that have been the victim of a scam to report it. Guess what. The scam reporting company is in fact, an elaborate scam.
There are probably thousands of ways people are cheated. Too many to mention here. There is an answer, but it demands discipline. Follow Proverbs 3:5-6. Before you buy anything, or do anything, ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom about it. If after that, you are in any doubt at all, walk away from whatever it is you're considering. There is no free anything. That free trial can end up costing you more than you think. Deal with companies you know, but pray first anyway.
The whole point of this little editorial, is to tell you that the only place in this world, that you don't have to worry about being scammed in any way, is the word of God, the Bible. It is the only place where what it says, is what it is. So it stands to reason, that if you live by the above proverb, you will sleep a lot better. Let the Bible guide your life, and you will have the best possible life, because you are following God's plan, and in so doing you are messing up satan's plan. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

When Is Enough?

It Is Written, 1 John 5:21, little children, keep yourself from idols.
God wants all of His children to be happy, and to recognize Him as the one true God. God gave us a free will, so that loving and serving Him is a choice for us, rather than a command with no options. Blessings are a gift and not a bribe.
When we receive a blessing, it is in abundance. God always gives us more than we need. At this point we can do one of two things with our abundance we can share it with those in need, or we can hold onto it. The choice is ours.
When you have abundance, whether it's money or other things, you run the risk of getting greedy. People that are greedy, are in effect making what they are greedy about, their idol or God. The thing about money for instance, is that satan disguises the pursuit of money to make it look like the way to success. Money as well as many other things, can take over your life, before you even realize what is happening.
The best way to live your life, is to turn it over to the Lord. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in everything you do. Speak to Him every day, and rebuke satan if he comes to talk to you. You know it is satan if what he puts in your mind is opposite of the way you know you are supposed to live.
Regardless of what we're talking about, it is important to recognize that the word enough is just like the word abundance to most people. We cannot let the idea of enough, take over our lives to the point that we are never satisfied, and we make stuff our God. God does not bless us to lose us. He gave you more than enough, to help those who have nothing. Helping someone who has nothing is in itself a blessing, because by doing so, we honor God. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Hindrances to Knowing God

It Is Written, Psalm 10:4, the wicked in his proud countenance  does not seek God;  God is in none of his thoughts.
Proverbs 16:18,  pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
There are as many excuses for rejecting God, as there are people. The most common reasons are pride, stubbornness, fear of what others will say, and an unwillingness to alter lifestyle, just to name a few. If you confront most unbelievers with this, they will either deny that they fit this description, or just get plain angry.
Since many people deny the existence of God, they had to come up with different ways to explain the universe, the Earth, and us. Some of the explanations require a great imagination. Dust from a big bang that ultimately created everything, aliens, to one of my favorite, the universe and everything in it was created by itself, because it needed to. I wouldn't be surprised if someone gave the credit to Mickey Mouse.
Man in general finds it difficult to accept a greater being than himself. He wants to live by his own rules, and not be responsible to anyone for anything. Man gets pumped up and exaggerates his own intelligence, and becomes his own God. He feels he can do it all by himself, he doesn't need God. I guess if you feel you are God, there is no reason to look for another. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Spiritual Eyes

It Is Written, 2 Corinthians 5:7, for we walk by faith, not by sight.
As human beings, we live with a very big handicap. That handicap is that we all have some of that apostle Thomas in us. If we can't see it or feel it, we don't believe.
Many of us make decisions  based on how we feel. . It doesn't take a genius to figure out that emotional decisions usually lead to disaster.
satan uses emotions and doubt against us. He knows that as long as he keeps you doubting, he is keeping you from the power of God. He will work every angle. He lies, cheats, and steals. He never gives up. He is relentless.
As an example. Suppose you hear about a charity that touches your heart, like feeding starving kids. satan will step in to try to stop you. He will tell you things like, that is a scam, you can't afford to give, the amount you give doesn't make a difference. No matter what you do, he will tell you it isn't enough. If you remember that every good thing you do pleases God, it doesn't matter how you feel. Go by faith. Trust in God.
The closer you get to God, the harder the devil works. Be happy because you are starting to go in the right direction. Stand on the Word at all times. Show satan that you can be relentless too.
When you pray, see the results, not the circumstances that satan tries to put in front of you. Remember that if God said it, it is . Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Phases of Faith

It Is Written, 1 Corinthians 2:5, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
If you look at the subject of faith, you'll see that it appears to come in phases. If you are new to the faith, it will probably encourage you.
The first phase of faith is when you first notice an empty feeling in your heart, or you realize you need help. It may seem you have everything, but you are still empty. At some point you come in contact with someone who seems different. They are happy and show it by how they act. Maybe you run across a preacher who is talking about Jesus and salvation. You start to check it out because you feel you are driven to do so.
When you finally make the decision for Jesus, your life looks different. Now you need to grow. Talk to other real Christians, find a church that teaches the word, read the word. Realize that when a person is saved, God gives each person the same measure of faith.
Now you have phase 2. Now you start to put what you have learned into action. You make up your mind to believe, no matter what. It isn't easy at first, you will try and fail, but keep going. Don't get discouraged, pray from your heart and believe what you can handle to start with. Success leads to bigger success as you grow in faith and trust.
Now for phase 3. You make an effort to give the first part of your day to the Lord. Read the word every day, even if it is just one chapter. The Gospel of John is a good place to start. Read it several times to start with, and read it without distractions.
There will come a time that verses will become clear to you. Some will even seem to jump out at you. Without trying, you'll realize that the word of God is absolutely true. You'll realize that you want to live according to God's plan for you, because you realize He loves you so much.
I don't know how to describe the joy, peace, and love that comes over your life when you finally believe with your whole heart. Now God is your father without a doubt in your heart and your mind.
Obviously this is the short version. But knowing that if it is in the Bible, it is all true , is really a glorious experience to start a fabulous relationship with God. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Meditation Is Valuable

It Is Written, Psalm 77:6, I call to remembrance my song in the night I meditate within my heart, and my spirit makes diligent search.
To meditate is to ponder, or reflect on something. When we worry, we are meditating on the negative. As you probably found out, meditating on the negative, or what we call worry, produces what you worried about. Something  we probably don't realize is what a valuable tool it can be if we use it for positive results.
When we read the Bible, most of us just read it as we would read a book. At first it is probably hard to understand, so most of the time we just put it back on the shelf, and we give up on it.
Here is where meditation really helps. Take that Bible and open it to the gospel of John. Read it one verse at a time, and really think about what the verse says.  When you understand that verse, go on to the next one. You don't have a deadline. It is better to read and understand a part of the Bible then none of it. A good study Bible will help you quite a bit to understand.
You will be surprised. If you read a parable and how Jesus explained it, and you really think about it, you will be able to figure out other parables. You will get very comfortable in a very short time, and will actually look forward to studying the Bible.
When we pray for something, we are supposed to believe we receive what we pray for. You will find that if you meditate on the answer, instead of the problem, you will believe without any problem, and therefore will receive what you pray for.
Before you do anything, ask the Holy Spirit in Jesus name for wisdom and guidance. Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!
