Is the Old Testament Cruel ?

It Is Written, 2 Corinthians 3:13-14, unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.
I guess you could say, according to that verse, if you don't study the Old Testament the veil will not lift for you either. As we all know the Old Testament has been getting a bad rap for years. Does it deserve all of the bad feelings people have about it?
If you select verses at random, or a friend tells you about a certain verse or two, you can easily reach the wrong conclusion.
Here's a suggestion to help you decide. Actually read a book like Jeremiah. Don't skip anything. As you read any book in the Old Testament, look at it from God's point of view. He explains everything He will do and why, if the people do not listen to His Word.
Jesus Himself made many references to the Old Testament in His teachings. Jesus preached love and how His Father wanted everyone to be saved. Jesus preached against false gods the same way the Old Testament did, and how the belief in false God's displeased His Father.
One more point. In our world without God, do you feel safe? How about if God eliminated the bad guys? God protected His people spiritually as well as physically since man was created.
If you look at your children and their obedience, or disobedience, you start to see things a little bit the way God saw them. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!
Remember Jesus Loves You
Prayer of Salvation
Lord Jesus, I thank you for what you did on the cross for me. Your blood washed away all my sins, by your stripes I was healed, your death and resurrection brought me salvation. Please forgive my sins, and come into my heart as my personal Savior.
Thank YouLord
 Amen
