God's Promises Sunday

Importance Of Being A Father

Proverbs 22:6, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Did you ever think about when you are growing up and had no  guidance about anything? You had a father, but everything you learned or didn't learn was from your friends.

3 John 1:4, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

If you are a new father, do you want your children to learn from the street? Are you so happy with the way you were raised that you want your loved ones to follow your path?

People talk about family curses. Almost all family curses are caused by each generation learning from the one before it. The way to change any so-called curse is by prayer, and accepting the fact that change is important. How you are in your generation has an effect on the ones after you.

As a husband and father, you have been anointed by almighty God as the spiritual head of your family. It is your sacred duty to love and guide your family and their spiritual and physical lives. Lead by example, not just talk.

Pray and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Pray with your children. read Bible stories to them and talk about those stories. Teach them about the Lord Jesus Christ, because their eternal life is influenced by you.

When you tell your child to do something, they may have a question, have patience and listen to them. Teach them right from wrong. Teach them how to do things, how to figure out decisions about their lives. This is another great spot for the Holy Spirit to help.

Teach your children to do the things you didn't know when you were young. Even grandparents can be involved. Being a father sometimes requires extreme patience, and unconditional love. Realize they are your children and you are a guide for as long as you live. Knowing you are a part of their eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ, is the greatest feeling you can have this side of Heaven.

There is a reason for all of this talk about being a father besides the obvious. We have a Heavenly Father, and His feelings toward us follow a lot of what was just said, but even more so. We are His children, and in order to take care of us in our eternity with Him, He did everything he could to show us the way. He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to die for our sins, to be raised from the dead, so that we could have the chance for eternal life.

We can never be as loving as God is,  but I think you're getting idea. If you see your child going astray from your teaching, how much more so would God be hurting if He saw His children heading on a path to the wrong eternity?

We have received the Holy Spirit when we were saved. The Holy Spirit is here to help us and to guide us  in our journey on this Earth. The only problem comes up, when we don't listen to His voice. If almighty God doesn't let you  go without helping you, it is a good example for you to follow. God bless you and your family.

Praise The Lord!

 Remember Jesus loves you.

 Prayer of Salvation.

My Lord Jesus Christ, I believe you died on the cross and rose again to save me and to forgive all of my sins. I ask you to come into my heart as my personal savior. I Repent of my sins, and I thank you and Praise you for what you did on the cross to make my salvation possible. Amen.

Praise The Lord!
