Does God Expect Too Much ?

It Is Written,  John 3:16,  for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,  that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
We should ask ourselves what is it that God does expect of us?  Do we think it is reasonable or unreasonable.  When you ask yourself that question, make sure you try to keep emotions out of it.  How you answer that question will determine how you spend the rest of your life.
God expects you to believe that He created everything that exists, including you.  When He created us, He didn't want a bunch of yes men, or robots. He wanted us to love Him, and spend eternity with Him.
God knew we were weak and would occasionally mess up.  He knew that we could not possibly pay for our sins by ourselves.  So He sent His only son to pay for our sins.
God expects us to believe His Word, and accept His son as our Savior.  He wants us to love and rust Him.  He doesn't want to buy our love, He wants us to love Him, because He loves us.
How do we love Him ?  By trusting Him, loving our fellow man, and following Him.  When we do that, and repent of our sins, not because of fear of punishment, but because we hurt Him, we start to get closer to Him.
God also tests our faith once in a while, to show ourselves and our Creator, that we really do believe, no matter what, because He said so.
So the bottom line is this.  When you look at your life, and consider everything along the lines of this message,  Is God expecting too much, or Is He  not expecting enough?  Another question to ask yourself is simply this. If you were in God's position would you be as merciful, kind, and loving, to people that generally don't appreciate it?  I think we all need to really think about these things.
We cannot possibly love more than God.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Life Is ?

It Is Written, James 4:14, whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, then vanishes away.
Have you ever really thought about that statement?  Take a look at your past.  Think about an event in your life from years ago.  Does it seem like yesterday?  It is amazing how time appears to operate.
If it was in the past, or really enjoyable, time goes by fast.  If you are waiting for something, or you are having a hard time, time just seems to drag on.
Most of us go through life chasing things.  Whether it is stuff, pleasure, or self-fulfillment, it is all the same.  Most things that we chase are elusive, and cause us stress, frustration, and unhappiness.
We wake up one morning, and we are many years older, and still searching.  We think about things that were important in the past, and realize that they no longer matter.  That my friends is normal for most people.
I was listening to a preacher one day, and he said that if a person used Proverbs as a guide, his life would be worthwhile, and successful.  I would add that the rest of God's word is also needed. If you allow God to direct you, you will never have regrets.  Just a reminder.  We get only one shot at life, we have to make it good the first time.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Faith in Inability

It Is Written, Mark 9:23, Jesus said "if you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."
Sounds like a funny title, doesn't it?b But if you think about it, we do it all of the time.b Let me explain.
Almost all believers believe in God's ability to do the impossible. Cure a headache, grow a new arm, replace a heart, put a new eye where there was none, all simple for God. bWe have no doubt that He can do these things.b Our reasoning is, if He created it, He can fix, change, or replace anything in this world.
Here comes the tough part.  While we believe all of the above, we doubt that He will do it for us, or we don't expect Him to.  We actually begin to have faith that a miracle will not happen.  We are so convinced of it, that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
Do you wonder if you will take another breath, worry if your heart will keep beating, or if you will be able to see five minutes from now?  Of course not.
Believing God has the ability, and will do a miracle in your life works the same way.  Start taking God's love for you for granted, do your part(trust) and relax.  It is finished.  Praise the Lord!

My Father Loves Me

It Is Written, Proverbs 13:1,  a wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
When I was growing up I knew my parents loved me,  but we were not a warm family.  We were not close, and I guess we really didn't try to be.  My dad was a nice guy, and we certainly didn't suffer hardship because of him, but he never took interest in what I did or wanted to do.
When I first found the Lord, it was very hard to accept that God the father loves me so much.  I didn't have much of an idea of what that meant.  Yes I read plenty of verses about His love, but like most people, the verses were nice, but they didn't really touch me.
Like a lot of people, I just lived  my life my way, and didn't think about it very much. Then one day, I had an awakening.  After a bad decision on my part, I suddenly realized that a little voice inside me, kept telling me not to do what I did.
I started thinking about other things.  I finally realized that my habit was to pray about something, then do it my way.  How many times do you have to stick your hand in a fire, to realize it hurts?
I started to look at all of these verses again, but this time I looked at myself and my two boys.  Did I look out for them, was I interested in what they wanted to do, did I try to guide them, did I really love them and show it? The answer was yes.
It became obvious to me, that if an imperfect person like me tried to guide his kids for their happiness and well-being, how much more would God do?  Obviously no comparison.
Now when I read the verses, I see the absolute truth in them. Since God sees all, and loves me unconditionally, how can I go wrong following His lead?
I found it helped me to be a better father, when I passed on wisdom from my Father.  Believe me when I tell you, the words in the Bible are not just words.  They are life.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!

Dear God

Taking a Trip

It Is Written, Hebrews 4:9, there remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
When most of us think about taking a trip, we have a destination in mind. We imagine a place, and the things we would like to do when we get there.
It is hard for the average person to make arrangements for a place they never saw.  Everyone would like the best places to stay,  the cheapest way to get there, and so on.
In order to lessen the chances of a total disaster, we look for travel agents, or websites that have a good reputation, for knowing what they are doing. We put our faith and trust in these fallible people, and we don't worry about the trip.  We spend our time visualizing a fantastic vacation.
How many people consider their eternal destination?  Most people get nervous if they think about that.  Now this my friends is a trip where you really need to put your trust in the right place.  There is no eternity.com to help you, but there is the Word of God.  As you know the Word of God is a guidebook, written by the supreme being, for our eternal peace and joy.  It also gives you faultless directions during your life so that your trip and your destination are just as good as they can possibly be.
Just remember we can forget a bad trip, or a bad choice of destination. Those are actually minor, and they are over in a short time.  Eternity is forever, with absolutely no "do overs".
So as we go through life, doesn't it make sense to include the most important trip, your eternal destination in your planning?  It is never too early, or too late.  Seek the Lord with all your heart, and you can't possibly go wrong.  Have a blessed day. Praise the Lord!

Are the Poor Faithful?

It Is Written, Luke 6:20,  blessed are you poor,  for yours is the kingdom of God.
It Is Written, Matthew 5:3, blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
At first glance, these two verses may seem different. But are they?  Both refer to people who are spiritually lost.  At the time Jesus was teaching the people about God, the only real teaching about God was from Jesus, not in the synagogue.  Religion as they knew it was just rules and regulations that were impossible to do.  They were ready to hear what Jesus was teaching.
When you look at people in the physical world,  you see people that depend on God for a living, such as farmers.  The weather and how their crops grow are a result of God's actions, and they know it.
In many places on earth, people have nothing.  Their lives seem without hope. When given the opportunity to hear about God, they endure hardships to hear the Word, that most people in the industrialized world would not even dream of doing.  They realize God is their only hope, and many cling to him.
The sad part is with most people, the better off they are, the less they depend on God.  They feel that they accomplished everything by themselves and don't need God.  They don't even want to hear about God.
There you have it. Two ways to look at those verses. Nothing has changed from that time until now,  because people and circumstances have not changed for the most part.  Have a blessed day.  Praise The Lord!
