Believers Follow Up

It Is Written, Matthew 13:19-23, when anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.  This is he who received seed by the wayside.  But he who received the seed at stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;  yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while.  For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.  Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.  But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces:  some a hundredfold, some 60, some 30.
In these verses from the parable of the sower, Jesus describes how the word is received in different people.  All of us fit in there somewhere.  We can look at the descriptions and see which one we fall into.  It gives us an honest idea of where we are, and how far we are from where we need to be.
When people say the prayer of salvation, many believe that that is the end of it.  It is just the beginning of it.  The seed was planted, but we must water and feed it with the food from God, to make it grow.  The word of God.
If you wanted to play golf, would you just announce that you are a golfer, and never practice or play?  The prayer of salvation is intended for us to be born spiritually.  This new person, just like any living being, must be fed to grow.  Anything that isn't fed, dies.  Your spiritual man can die from neglect.  It brings into question whether that person was really saved. Many people claim to be a Christian, but give no actual indication of it.
As I have said in other messages, you can listen to CDs or MP3s in your car, while jogging, or whatever you are doing.  You must feed your spirit.  If there is any question in your mind about whether you are really saved, repeat the prayer of salvation with all your heart, and read a chapter or two every day.  Start with Galatians.  Have a blessed day.  Praise the Lord!
Just a Note: the parable of the sower is in Matthew 13:3-8.  The verses above are the explanation.
Remember Jesus Loves You
Prayer of Salvation
Lord Jesus, I thank you for what you did on the cross for me.  Your blood washed away all my sins, by your stripes I was healed, your death and resurrection brought me salvation.  Please forgive my sins, and come into my heart as my personal Savior.
Thank You Lord
Amen
