A Relationship With Jesus
2 Corinthians 5:7, So if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.
We have all heard about seeking the kingdom first and having a relationship with the Lord. I think what we sometimes don’t realize that one usually leads to the other. As you are seeking the kingdom, you are building a relationship.
On our own we can do nothing. Take for instance New Year’s resolutions. We all make them with the best intentions including a determination to keep them. What usually happens with 90% of us, we fail.
We can say to ourselves that we will for instance study the Bible every day for two hours. We are sincere in that thought, but it is destined to fail. When it does fail, we feel bad and sometimes we even feel very guilty. The fact is we have set ourselves up for failure.
The big thing we need to do is to take it as the Lord gives it to us. What I mean by that is, if you are sincere in your heart about building a relationship with the Lord, He will lead you in ways you don’t even realize. You will start doing things like reading the Bible, thinking about Him or even talking to Him in private.
Matthew 6:33, Seek first the kingdom of God and His, righteousness and all things shall be added to you.
As we should all know by now, works will not cause us to have that relationship. Try looking at it this way. If you had a very good friend that really cared about you, wouldn’t you want to spend more time with them. That will eventually become a relationship. Now if that friend told you that he or she wanted to take you to an expensive lunch, and all you had to do is ask him, you would probably jump at it.
Like any relationship, it basically boils down to one thing. That one thing is that you know the other person so well that you know exactly what to expect in every situation. An example would be for instance if you’re talking about the Lord, that you pray for something and because you have an intimate relationship with Him you know you will get what you asked. There’s absolutely no doubt in your mind.
So, take some private time with the Lord, in the beginning of the day, even if you must get up a few minutes early and tell Him what’s in your heart. Through the Holy Spirit you will be led to do the right thing. Just pay attention to that little voice in your heart, and your relationship will grow. You will be on the right track to a fantastic relationship with the Lord without even realizing it. You will have peace in your heart, and in your heart, you will know that He loves you, and you can love Him back.
Jeremiah 24:7, Then I will give them a heart to know me that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.
God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!
Remember Jesus loves you.
Prayer of Salvation.
My Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you for what you did on the cross for me. Your blood washed away all my sins, by your stripes I was healed, your death and resurrection brought me salvation. Please forgive my sins and come into my heart as my personal savior. Amen.
Praise The Lord!
