Road To Damascus
Acts 9: 3 - 9
Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from Heaven showed around him. Falling to the ground he heard a voice saying to him,” Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said who are you, Lord? And He said, I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and enter the city and you will be told what you are to do. The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one. Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they let him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate or drank.
The whole story of Paul's conversion is in Acts 9: 1 - 19. This excerpt gives you the basic story in order to set up this message a little quicker. Paul was well-educated, and a devout Jew. He was an expert on the law, and held a high position in the temple. To say he was dedicated to pursuing his beliefs, would be an understatement.
Paul saw the Christians as blasphemers of God, who we're trying to destroy the law of Moses. He persecuted every Christian he could find. He threw whole families into prison. His goal was to destroy all Christians, and what they believed. Paul was going to Damascus to capture and imprison more Christians, when the Lord sent him a wake-up call that he couldn't ignore.
Most people at some point in their lives, receive their own wake up call. I know I did. It isn't normally as dramatic as the one Paul got, but you get one nonetheless. Usually someone's life starts to fall apart. As they continue down the wrong path, things get worse and worse. With many people, pride keeps them from seeing that they are going in the wrong direction. When people are at the breaking point, they go one of two ways. They either cry out to God for help, and admit that they are sinners, or they follow satan to destruction.
I must point out this important fact. Which way you go in life, wake up, call you do or don't recognize, God allows you to follow your own desires and actions. If you don't listen to that voice in your heart, it will get less and less. God allows you to make choices. satan lies, and pushes people in the wrong direction, by deceiving them. Does the story of Adam and Eve sound familiar ? Beware my friends and do not ignore the wake up call you will receive at some point in your life. Pay attention to it and act on it. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!
Remember Jesus loves you.
Prayer of Salvation.
