Not Just Money
Luke 6:38, give and it will be given to you; good measure,, shaken together, and running over will He put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.
Preachers usually start a talk about tithing by saying something like “this usually empties the church” of course it doesn't, but it really is a tough topic.
Leviticus 27:30, and all the tides of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, it is the Lord's. It is Holy to the Lord.
Matthew 23:23, woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and anise and cumin and have neglected the weightier matters of the law. Justice and mercy and Faith. These you ought to have done without leaving the others undone.
After reading these verses, it is easy to see that tithing is not just money. While money is necessary, it is only a part of the story.
Tithing came about as a way of helping the poor. There is more to the story though. Tithing as well as any kind act must be with a happy heart. We shouldn't brag or look for praise, it is as in the case of money, Anonymous.
There are people who are sick, infirm, old, and anything you can name that needs physical help. Drive to the doctor, shopping, cutting grass, shoveling snow, and all kinds of other things and of course the biggest one of all praying for them.
It might be a good idea for each of us to figure out if and how much money we could give. How much of our time, including prayer time. We must do anything with a loving heart, because in God's eyes it doesn't count unless it is with a clean loving heart.
If we look around, It won't take very long to find somebody that needs some help from us. Tithing our time I believe is a very important part of tithing. God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!
2 Corinthians 9:7-8, so let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful Giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
Remember Jesus loves you
Prayer of Salvation.
My Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you and Praise you for what you did on the cross for me. By your stripes I was healed and your blood washed away my sins. Your death and resurrection made my salvation possible. I confess my sins, and I ask you to come into my heart as my personal savior. Amen!
Praise The Lord!
