Well, my friends, we are once again going into a new year. Many people are happy that the old year and its problems are behind us. Is it really A new beginning? Let's examine this from a few different perspectives.
Take a good long look at the past year. If you are honest about it, there have been examples of God working in your life. If you know and love God, you count it all as blessings, because even in tough times, God is preparing us for what He wants us to do. Praise God for all of it, no matter what it looks like, because it is His plan.
Jeremiah 29:11, for I know the plans I have for you-this is the Lord's declaration, -plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
A new year is what some people think is a fresh start. A chance to correct past mistakes. The only problem with that is, we take all of us and our faults and missteps with us. We invariably follow a very human trait of repeating the same mistakes that got us where we are.
There's an old line that says, things will not change until man changes. Almost everyone thinks that something went wrong because those who came before, did it wrong. So they do the same dumb thing that was done in the past, expecting a different outcome. Good luck with that.
Ezekiel 11:19, I will give them Integrity of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh.
There is a way each of us can have a new beginning. It isn't based on what the calendar says, it is what our heart says. We were all born with a feeling of something missing in our lives. Many people look to fill that empty feeling by pursuing the things of the world. satan steps in and Ups his game. He introduces people to lust, greed, and all sorts of evil. They receive temporary pleasure, then they need even more evil when the temporary pleasure disappoints.
There's only one true way to lasting happiness, and that is through Jesus Christ. It has nothing to do with a new year, or a new place to live, a new job, or anything like that. The truth is knowing how much God loves us, and what Jesus did for us that is the key. Because God gave us the Holy Spirit, and free will, we choose. We can follow God’s perfect plan for us or not.
John 4: 6, Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.
The Holy Spirit will teach, help, and guide us in the way we should go. We are born in the spirit when we repent and accept Jesus as our savior. It really is a new beginning. Listening to the Holy Spirit always produces good in some way. Not listening produces disaster. Learn from past mistakes, don’t repeat them.
Remember Jesus loves you.
Prayer of Salvation.
Lord Jesus, please forgive all of my sins, and come into my heart as my personal savior. I want to serve only You.
Praise The Lord!
Amen
