Our Covenant
Luke 22:20, Likewise He also took the cup after supper saying, this cup is the New Covenant in my blood which is shed for you.
Anyone who reads the Bible finds the word covenant mentioned dozens of times. To anyone who does not understand what a covenant is, it is an oath bound contract between God and humans.
When we are saved, we enter into a personal Covenant with God. It is a contract where each party agrees to specific behavior. Covenants in Bible times meant so much, that severe consequences fell on whoever broke the Covenant.
Hebrews13:20, Now may the God of Peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the Everlasting Covenant.
Galatians 3:15, brethren, I speak in the manner of men: though it is only a man’s Covenant if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it.
John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
We have been promised that our sins have been forgiven, as well as eternal life when we are saved by the grace of God. We have also received the helper, the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 5:17, casting all your cares about Him, for He cares for you.
We are to trust the Lord in all things, and obey as He directs us. We are to accept the Lord God Almighty as our source for everything. Obey his Commandments and look to the Lord Jesus Christ as our example.
The best way for us to honor our part to the Covenant with our Lord Jesus Christ, is to read the word of God the Bible. The Bible is a treasure chest in the ways of Our Lord. And in it we see what He expects of us, and what we can expect of Him. It is after all a covenant, and we should be very familiar with both sides of it.
Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
God bless you and your family. Praise The Lord!
Remember Jesus loves you.
