Don't Think About God?

It Is Written, Matthew 16:26, for what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
There are many people in this world that are considered successful by the world standards of success, however success means different things to different people.
God does not condemn people who attain wealth or fame. The big problem is when people think that they can do everything by themselves, and they don't need God. Their wealth or fame becomes their God.
If a person does in fact decide that money, a goal, or fame, or whatever else is the most important thing to them, they run the risk of that becoming their God. If they focus everything on the end, and not how they got there, they run a real risk of eternity that is also without God.
If on the other hand, a person focuses on God, talks to God, and follows God's plan, he or she can exceed their wildest dreams, and enjoy eternity with God.
Whatever it is you choose to do in life, make sure that God is your partner and guide, no matter what. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

People In Your Life

It Is Written, 2 Timothy 2:15, be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.
The world is full of people. Many look for friends, because they feel that the number of friends they have, equates to their status, or is a way to fill an empty space in their life.
You will find that the majority of people you meet are unbelievers, and they reject believers. They are most often very negative about themselves, as well as just about everything else in their world.
People create their own world by their words and actions. People take what for them, is the easier road. They speak negative words, take negative actions, and look to blame others for their failures.
Believers have their own world too. Their's however is filled with positive words and actions. They trust in God, and have a fulfilling life.
Remember this. You will be like the people you associate with. Choose wisely, because your eternity depends on your choices. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Hear God

It Is Written, John 8:47, whoever is of God, hears the Words of God. The reason you do not hear them is that you are not of God.
This verse may seem a little harsh, but it is true. God's Word and instructions to us are in the Bible. If you do not know Him through His Word, you are not likely to know His voice.
If you are not of God, how would you know how, or what you should speak to Him. It would be like trying to speak to someone in a language you do not understand.
The majority of people, do not understand that knowing about God, is nowhere near really knowing God and His love. We must know Him better than we know the closest person to us.
Really knowing God is easy to do. Read and meditate on His Word. Unfortunately for many people, that is the hardest thing to do.
Take your first step, and read the Word, and the Holy Spirit will guide you and help you. Salvation is waiting. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Eyes Wide Open

It Is Written, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
As human beings, most of us have a never-ending list of wants. Our wants can become so strong in our minds, that they take on the status of needs.
Most people do not realize that many things we think we need, or want, would not be what is best for us. God does, and He knows if something will take us from Him, or cause us harm in some way.
A number of years ago, it occurred to me that life is like going to school. Each level comes up as we are prepared for it. It's a little like that with God. Things happen in steps, just as schools have grades.
Until we appreciate what He has given us, and are truly thankful for it, we might not go to the next want. Be truly thankful for Jesus and what He did for you. Be grateful for everything you have, and more will be given to you. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

The Greatest Fast

It Is Written, in Isaiah chapter 58. It is too long to write here, but it will do you a tremendous amount of good if you read that chapter. What I have written will make sense only if you do.
When we think of fasting, we usually think of giving up food for a few days. We have also heard of variations of fasting. There are dozens of fasts that people have come up with, probably in order to make the idea of fasting, more acceptable.
I'm not going into a discussion of the merits of each type, or the value of each when done with prayer. When we decide about fasting for any reason, we should take into consideration how God feels about fasting.
Isaiah 58:6-7 tells us about what God considers the ideal fast. Verses eight through 11 tell you about the benefits of this fast. Again reading this chapter of Isaiah, will make everything in this message more understandable.
When we were saved, we received the fruits of the spirit. We received these fruits because God thought they were important for us to have.
It is not a coincidence that the fruits are the basis of God's preferred fast as outlined in Isaiah 58. He gave us all the tools we need to help us with His fast. Meditate on this chapter and give it some serious consideration. You will be blessed. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

The Valley

It Is Written, Psalm 23:4, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;  for you are with me;  your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
As I was reading this fourth verse of the Psalm, I was again reminded of the peace it brought to so many, including me.
The picture of helpless sheep being protected by the Shepherd, is so much a picture of security, that the feelings of the ones protected would be indescribable.
I bring up this point, because I see the world as the valley, and God is my personal Shepherd. To me, believers are like the helpless sheep. In this world gone mad, and danger lurking everywhere, we must look to our divine Shepherd.
The Lord takes care of His, but like the sheep in this Psalm, we must put our total trust in our Shepherd. I'm not trying to reinterpret Scripture, I'm just saying what this verse means to me. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Heart And Brain

It Is Written, 1 John 4:20-21, if someone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him; that he who loves God must love his brother also.
When you think about God, do you really love Him? Maybe you are a little confused about it. Maybe your brain tells you that since you don't feel love the way you do, or did with your spouse, you don't love God.
Your brain is bombarded by satan all day long. He fills your head with problems, dislike, anger toward other people, and so on. All of this is a diversion to keep you from God. He plants guilt and condemnation for everything you listen to him about.
Your heart on the other hand, can see a clear picture. If you are touched by things of God, your heart is telling you that you do love God.
You are a spirit, and your brain is low man on the totem pole. You can shut messages from satan off. Let your spirit put the things of God in your brain. Things of the spirit overcome anything satan can possibly do or say.
If you have received salvation, just live according to the fruits of the spirit as outlined in Galatians 5: 22-23, and loving God is automatic. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Is the Old Testament Cruel ?

It Is Written, 2 Corinthians 3:13-14, unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.
I guess you could say, according to that verse, if you don't study the Old Testament the veil will not lift for you either. As we all know the Old Testament has been getting a bad rap for years. Does it deserve all of the bad feelings people have about it?
If you select verses at random, or a friend tells you about a certain verse or two, you can easily reach the wrong conclusion.
Here's a suggestion to help you decide. Actually read a book like Jeremiah. Don't skip anything. As you read any book in the Old Testament, look at it from God's point of view. He explains everything He will do and why, if the people do not listen to His Word.
Jesus Himself made many references to the Old Testament in His teachings. Jesus preached love and how His Father wanted everyone to be saved. Jesus preached against false gods the same way the Old Testament did, and how the belief in false God's displeased His Father.
One more point. In our world without God, do you feel safe? How about if God eliminated the bad guys? God protected His people spiritually as well as physically since man was created.
If you look at your children and their obedience, or disobedience, you start to see things a little bit the way God saw them. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Guilt or Repentance

It Is Written, 2 Corinthians 7:10, for Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Recently I asked myself an important question, while thinking about repentance. You may want ask yourself the same question.
When you sin, why do you confess it to God? Is it because you are afraid of going to hell, or do you feel real remorse because it offends God?
I'm pretty sure that almost everyone including myself, has to think long and hard about the answer we come up with. I don't know about you, but it puts sin in a whole new light for me.
Think about it and be honest with yourself. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

The Rapture

It Is Written, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, for the Lord himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an Archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with  them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Many people do not believe in the rapture, because the word rapture is not in the Bible. The words caught up are used instead. 2 Corinthians 12:4, speaking of Paul, he was caught up into paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
The Bible tells of Noah and his family escaping the flood, Lot and his family escaping Sodom. God rescued His people. Even the Hebrews living in Egypt during the time of Moses, were untouched by the plagues.
God rescues His people one way or another. Many people today consider the idea of the rapture, as escapism and nonsense. Seems like a lack of trust in God.
Many scholars today agree that the rapture will happen. They do however disagree as to when, whether it is before tribulation, during tribulation, or at the end of tribulation.
If you are a believer in Jesus as your personal Savior, you will be okay no matter when the rapture occurs. Read the Word and see for yourself. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

Change Circumstances

It Is Written, Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
In the past we have discussed the power of words, and how they determine how you will live. Those words start in the head.
If you have a heart for God, and His Word, whatever circumstances you find yourself in, you will come out a winner.
It all begins with that all-important relationship with God. When you know Him, His Word, and trust in Him, you have the answers to all circumstances.
Whatever you encounter, call on the name of Jesus and talk to the Holy Spirit. At that point, your heart will hear the answer, and tell your brain. Your brain will tell your mouth, and words will be spoken that set things in motion in the spirit world.
It really is that easy when you place your trust in God. Even though it may be hard in the beginning, just have patience and believe. You will be amazed at the blessings you will encounter in your future journey. God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!

The Holy Spirit Our Helper

It Is Written, John 14:16-17, and I will pray the father, and He will give you another helper, that He may abide with you forever-the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
We are all familiar with little or no faith in our lives at one time or another. Most of us look at it as a human thing and casually dismiss it. We miss out on many blessings and miracles, but we don't let that bother us too much, because most of the time we don't expect anything or even realize it is possible. If we do hear about someone being blessed, we have a tendency to think it does not apply to us.
When you look at it from the Holy Spirit's point of view, it is a very serious matter. It really hurts Him deeply, when we don't trust Him and what He tells us.
Jesus died for our sins as we all know. After He rose from the dead, He sent the same Holy Spirit to us, that He had while he was here on earth. The Holy Spirit knows the price Jesus paid because He loves us.
Jesus wanted us to live in God's grace and favor, as well as have the best possible life this side of Heaven. The Holy Spirit is here to make it all happen. The only way we can follow God's perfect plan for our lives is to listen to the Holy Spirit. When we trust Him and what He says, and follow His instructions, we are blessed more than we can possibly imagine. At the same time  we avoid the many many pitfalls that human beings without the Holy Spirit's guidance run into.
Just take God's word, and don't try to understand in your human way. God's ways are not our ways. Just enjoy his love, and know that everything he does is for our good.
God bless you and your family. Praise the Lord!
